Focus: Precision Mouse Control, Drag-and-Drop Targeting, & Spatial Navigation

π― Learning Objectives
Mouse Precision & Control: Students will refine fine motor control by accurately guiding their chosen diver (Sea Turtle, Dolphin, or Penguin) using continuous mouse/trackpad movement.
Spatial Coordination & Strategy: Students will identify target paths to rescue sea creatures while navigating around obstacles on screen.
Goal Setting & Mode Differentiation: Students will adapt their control technique when transitioning between basic navigation (Easy Mode) and timed combo executions (Hard Mode).
β±οΈ The Activity: Ocean Rescue Mission!
1. Mission Briefing & Diver Training (5 Mins)
Teacher Intro: "Divers assemble! Today weβre diving deep into the ocean to rescue our marine friends. Before we dive, we need to choose our diver and practice guiding them smoothly through the water."
Diver Selection: Walk students through picking their mascot (Sea Turtle, Dolphin, or Penguin).
Physical Practice: Have students place their hand flat on their desk or mousepad and practice slow, gliding movements without lifting their palm. Remind them: "Smooth like a gliding dolphin, not jumpy like a frog!"
2. The Rescue Mission (15 Mins)
Phase 1 (Easy Mode Exploration): Students select π’ Easy Mode to practice smooth path-following and target selection without time-pressure combos. Focus is strictly on accurate cursor positioning.
Phase 2 (Hard Mode Combos!): Once students master basic movement, they switch to π΄ Hard Mode to chain rescues together, building combos and boosting their high score.
Phase 3 (High Score Challenge): Students track their score on the main dashboard screen, attempting to set a new personal record with each dive.
3. Debrief & Reflection (5 Mins)
Discussion: Ask the class: "Which diver was your favorite to control? What happened to your score when you rushed your movements instead of making smooth, careful paths?"
β Success Criteria
Cadet Diver: Can select a diver and navigate toward target items, but occasionally overshoots targets or loses cursor tracking.
Rescue Specialist: Smoothly guides the diver to save marine life on Easy Mode, maintaining consistent cursor control throughout the dive.
Master Marine Biologist: Efficiently executes continuous movement paths on Hard Mode, successfully stacking combos and setting high scores.
π Mr. Mβs Teacher Pro-Tip: When students play on trackpads, they often run out of room mid-rescue. Teach them the "Lift and Drop" reset technique: if your finger hits the edge of the touchpad, lift your finger straight up, drop it back in the center, and continue guiding your diver without losing control!
